As an added exercise we were encouraged to write a <em>renga<\/em>, which is traditionally written in collaboration with someone else.&nbsp; The form consists of a haiku followed by a couplet of two seven syllable lines.&nbsp; My good friend Elizabeth collaborated with me on the following <em>renga.<\/em> <\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">songs speak to hearts<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">words that could have been rain<\/span><span class=\"q\"><\/span><br \/><span class=\"q\"><span style=\"font-style: italic;\"> if shy lips had spoke<\/span><\/span><br \/><span class=\"q\"><\/span><br \/><span class=\"q\"><\/span><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">they gaped, drenched, at the rainbows<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-style: italic;\"> steam rising from the space between<\/span><\/div>\n<div align=\"center\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">more haiku and renga from the poets at one deep breath.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rhinoblues.com\/thoughts\/2006\/11\/more-renga\/\" target=\"_blank\">another <em>renga<\/em><\/a> made with a different friend <\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This weeks prompt at one deep breath is friends &amp; companions.
