{"id":107,"date":"2006-10-24T12:34:14","date_gmt":"2006-10-24T19:34:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rhinoblues.com\/thoughts-wp\/?p=107"},"modified":"2011-08-02T19:40:04","modified_gmt":"2011-08-03T02:40:04","slug":"special-comment-advertising-terrorism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rhinoblues.com\/thoughts\/2006\/10\/special-comment-advertising-terrorism\/","title":{"rendered":"Special Comment: Advertising Terrorism"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another Special Comment from Keith Olbermann:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.msnbc.msn.com\/id\/15392701\/\" target=\"_blank\">Advertising Terrorism<\/a><\/p>\n<p>An excerpt:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">But to forgive you for terrorizing us, we would have to believe you somehow competent in keeping others from doing so.<\/p>\n<p class=\"textBodyBlack\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Yet, last week, construction workers repairing a subway line in New York City, were cleaning out an abandoned manhole on the edge of the World Trade Center site, when they stumbled on to the impossible:\u00a0 human remains from 9\/11.<\/p>\n<p class=\"textBodyBlack\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Bones and fragments.<\/p>\n<p class=\"textBodyBlack\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Eighty of them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"textBodyBlack\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Some as much as a foot long.<\/p>\n<p class=\"textBodyBlack\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The victims had been lying, literally in the gutter, for five years and five weeks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"textBodyBlack\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The families and friends of each of the 2,749 dead&#8211;who had been grimly told in May of 2002 that there were no more remains to be found&#8211;were struck anew as if the terrorism of that day had just happened again.<\/p>\n<p class=\"textBodyBlack\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">And over the weekend they&#8217;ve found still more remains.<\/p>\n<p class=\"textBodyBlack\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">And now this week will be spent looking in places that should have already been looked at a thousand times five years ago.<\/p>\n<p class=\"textBodyBlack\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">For all the victims in New York, Mr. Bush&#8211;the living and the dead&#8211;it&#8217;s a touch of 9\/11 all over again.<\/p>\n<p class=\"textBodyBlack\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">And the mayor of this city, who called off the search four-and-a-half years ago is a Republican.<\/p>\n<p class=\"textBodyBlack\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The governor of this state with whom he conferred is a Republican.<\/p>\n<p class=\"textBodyBlack\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The House of Representatives, Republican.<\/p>\n<p class=\"textBodyBlack\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The Senate, Republican.<\/p>\n<p class=\"textBodyBlack\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The President, Republican.<\/p>\n<p class=\"textBodyBlack\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">And yet you can actually claim that you and you alone can protect us from terrorism?<\/p>\n<p class=\"textBodyBlack\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">You can&#8217;t even recover our dead from the battlefield&#8211;the battlefield in an American city&#8211;when we&#8217;ve given you five years and unlimited funds to do so!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Another Special Comment from Keith Olbermann: Advertising Terrorism An excerpt: But to forgive you for terrorizing us, we would have to believe you somehow competent in keeping others from doing so.
