  2. What’s Your Poo Telling You? by Josh Richman & Anish Sheth,
    M.D.  Yeah, I realize this is just one of those gag books, and will
    likely reside on top of my toilet from now on, but it is still a book
    read cover to cover this year.  96 pages. (Finished 6 Jan 08)

  3. The Secret Life of Men and Women compiled by Frank Warren.  A Christmas gift from my other sister. 144 pages. (Finished 11 Jan 08)

  4. How We Are Hungry by Dave Eggers.  Time to finally get to the
    Eggers books I bought last spring.  This is a collection of short
    stories.  240 pages. (Finished 16 Jan 08)

  5. Mountains Beyond Mountains: The Quest of Dr. Paul Farmer, A Man Who Would Cure the World by
    Tracy Kidder.  The story of Dr. Paul Farmer, one of the worlds foremost
    experts on infectious diseases and how poverty affects them.  336
    pages. (Finished 23 Feb 08)

  6. Sacred Games by
    Vikram Chandra. Over 900 pages of the Mumbai underworld and police.  A
    bit long…but interesting. 928 pages. (Finished 9 May 08)

  7. People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks.  A creation of the history of a Jewish Prayer book from the late 1400’s and its survival to modern day. 416 pages. (Finished 15 May 08).

  8. This Is Your Brain On Music: The Science of a Human Obsession by Daniel J. Levitin.  Musician turned neuroscientist writes about how our brains process music.  320 pages. (Finished 25 May 08).

  9. Hocus Pocus by Kurt Vonnegut.  The “memoir” of a Vietnam vet, turned teacher, turned warden under arrest for insurrection in a United States owned by foreign interests. 302 pages. (Finished 27 May 08).

  10. Rant: An Oral Biography of Buster Casey by Chuck Palahnuik.  Chuck using yet another literary form to tell a story of extremities.  320 pages. (Finished 29 May 08).

  11. A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini.  A story of the cost of war on the people of Afghanistan.  From the communist takeover…to the rise and fall of the Taliban.  Like The Kite Runner a very wonderful book. 384 pages. (Finished 2 June 08).

  12. The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie.  National Book Award Winner by one of my favorite authors.  Its actually a “young adult” novel, but still pretty enjoyable on its own merits.  256 pages. (Finished 2 June 08).

  13. The Professional Barista’s Handbook by Scott Rao.  Read for work.  99 pages. (Finished 3 June 08).

  14. You Shall Know Our Velocity by Dave Eggers.  Twas Ok.  Not my favorite of his by any means though.  352 pages. (Finished 10 June 08).

  15. Tree of Smoke by Denis Johnson.  National Book Award winner for 2007.  A story of the Vietnam war, the CIA, and the mental tolls of war.  672 pages.  (Finished 30 June 08).

  16. The Sportswriter by Richard Ford.  I’ve been meaning to read something by Ford for awhile. I’m not to sure how I felt about the book, it wasn’t bad, but didn’t blow me away either.  384 pages. (Finished 14 July 08)

  17. Independence Day by Richard Ford.  Pulitzer Prize winning sequel to The Sportswriter. 464 pages. (Finished 25 July 08).

  18. Snuff by Chuck Palahniuk.  The latest from Palahniuk.  A quick read about porn and life and death. 288 pages.  (Finished 25 July 08).

  19. The Culture Code: An Ingenious Way to Understand Why People Around the World Live and Buy as They Do by Clotaire Rapaille.  A marketing expert does research about the cultural codes that influence the way we live our lives.  Pretty interesting stuff. 224 pages. (Finished 2 Aug 08).

  20. The Wine Bible by Karen MacNeil.  A book about wine. 904 pages. (Finished 10 Aug 08).

  21. The Flexitarian Table: Inspired, Flexible Meals for Vegetarians, Meat Lovers, and Everyone in Between by Peter Berley.  Yup, a cookbook.  But I read it cover to cover. 304 pages. (Finished 17 Aug 08).
  22. Southland by Nina Revoyr.  A woman discovers her family after her grandfather dies.  A novel about Los Angeles and how race has shaped it. 350 pages. (Finished 24 Aug 08).
  23. The Necessary Hunger by Nina Revoyr.  A story of two high school women’s basketball stars in LA, that end up living together when their respective single parents fall in love.  368 pages. (Finished 28 Aug 08).
  24. The 4-Hour Work Week: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich by Timothy Ferriss.  Interesting book about entrepreneurship, utilizing the global economy to get ahead, and working less to live more. 208 pages. (Finished 2 Sep 08)
  25. The Enchantress of Florence by Salman Rushdie.  A tale bridging East and West via the great Mugal empire of India and Medici Florence.  352 pages. (Finished 23 Sep 08)
  26. The Echo Maker by Richard Powers.  Set in Nebraska, a story about the mysteries of the brain and self. 464 pages. (Finished 18 Nov 08)
  27. The Billionaire’s Vinegar: The Mystery of the World’s Most Expensive Bottle of Wine by Benjamin Wallace.  The story of the “Thomas Jefferson” wines, and the search to figure out if they were real.  319 pages. (Finished 23 Nov 08)
  28. To Bless the Space Between Us: A Book of Blessings by John O’Donohue.  A book of blessings inspired by the Celtic spiritual traditions. 160 pages. (Finished 26 Nov 08)
  29. Marley & Me: Life and Love with the World’s Worst Dog by John Grogan.  A tale about a dog, mischief, and the family who loved him. 288 pages. (Finished 14 Dec 08)
